Bestor Art Park

A Green Retreat in the Heart of San Jose

Tucked between S 5th and S 6th Streets, this 0.7-acre green space has been a popular spot for the Spartan Keyes community since its establishment in 2004. The park welcomes visitors daily from 8AM to 6PM.

As you wander along the winding pathways, you'll discover yourself enveloped by leafy trees that create pockets of cool shade - excellent for those warm California days. The grassy areas are great for spreading out a picnic blanket or relaxing with a good book.

What You'll Find Here

Scattered within the park are several picnic areas with tables where you can enjoy a casual lunch or weekend gathering with friends. It's a nice setting for impromptu meet-ups with friends.

Active types will appreciate the basketball court, while those looking for a gentle stroll can follow the small trail that meanders through the space. While parking can be a bit tricky in this residential neighborhood, the well-maintained grounds make it worth the extra effort.

Kid-Friendly Fun

Little ones have their own dedicated space here with a playground featuring equipment specifically designed for younger children. The age-restricted play area ensures a safe environment where neighborhood kids can climb, slide, and imagine.

When the temperature rises, the splash pad becomes the park's most popular feature, filled with squeals of delight as children cool off in the refreshing water.

Art in the Outdoors

A distinctive feature of Bestor is its art. The park features unique art installations created by San Jose State University art students during the park's construction.

Look down as you walk - these creative pieces are cleverly integrated into the pavement, adding unexpected moments of discovery to your visit. The park has a connection to an art museum, adding to its cultural dimension.

Grow Your Own

Green thumbs flourish at the park's community garden, one of 18 such spaces in the San Jose area. Garden plots varying from 10x10 to 20x30 feet are distributed to residents on a first-come, first-served basis.

Walk by and you'll see gardeners using organic methods to grow everything from practical vegetables and herbs to colorful flowers and fruits - a true community effort rooted in sustainability.

Good to Know

Four-legged friends are welcome here, but remember to keep them leashed and clean up after them. One thing to note: there are no public restrooms available, so plan accordingly before your visit.
