About the Location

A Hilltop Gem

Vieira Park is a small public park located on Communications Hill in San Jose, California. Spanning approximately 2 acres, this serene outdoor space offers visitors panoramic views of the Santa Clara Valley and Santa Cruz Mountains.

Dedicated in 2004, the park serves as a small but valuable green space within the urban environment of San Jose.

Rich Local Heritage

The park is named after the Vieira family, a prominent Portuguese-American family of Azorean origin who have owned land on Communications Hill since 1896. This dedication commemorates four generations of the family's life in the area.

Their story spans from ranching to working in canneries, and later in construction and the high-tech industry.

Scenic Vistas

Situated atop Communications Hill, Vieira Park provides an excellent vantage point for viewing the San Jose city lights in the evenings. The park's elevated position makes it a perfect spot for photography and quiet contemplation.

The park is open from 5AM to 9PM daily, making it accessible for both early morning activities and evening relaxation.
