Established in 2015 as part of a residential redevelopment, Riverview Park spans 5.2 acres along the eastern bank of the Guadalupe River in North San Jose's Rincon district and has quickly become a local favorite.

What strikes you immediately is the sense of calm here. Unlike some of San Jose's busier parks, Riverview feels peaceful with its abundant trees and lush lawns providing a break from the city's usual hustle.

Paths and Connections

The park seamlessly connects to the Guadalupe River Trail, making it great for morning jogs or evening strolls along the water. An impressive pedestrian bridge spans the river, linking the park to the historic James Lick Mansion on the opposite bank - built by a land baron who, at the time of his death in 1876, was the wealthiest person in California. The bridge gives you direct access to the estate, making it easy to take a closer look at this piece of 19th-century history.

The pathways here are wide and well-maintained - good for a quick walk or a leisurely bike ride with the family.

If you're more sports-inclined, Riverview has options. The tennis courts and basketball courts are well-kept and often buzzing with friendly matches on weekends. They're popular enough to find playing partners but rarely so crowded that you can't get a game in.

The expansive grassy areas offer plenty of space for impromptu frisbee games or for your four-legged friend to burn off some energy. There's something refreshingly simple about having enough open space to simply run around.
