Found in San José's charming Willow Glen neighborhood, Willow Street Frank Bramhall Park spreads across 18 acres of urban tranquility. Open daily from 8AM to 8PM, this park offers a refreshing escape from city life without having to leave the city.

What might catch your attention first are the mature trees providing good shade throughout the grounds. The well-kept grassy areas remain surprisingly clean, giving you plenty of versatile space for whatever outdoor activity you have in mind.

Cultural Corner

At the heart of the park sits a grass amphitheater and stage that got a nice electrical upgrade back in 2013. This improvement has enabled Silicon Valley Shakespeare to perform right in the neighborhood.

Come summer, the amphitheater transforms into an outdoor cinema for movie nights that bring neighbors together under the stars. Just a heads-up though - the amphitheater's sloped design creates an interesting viewing experience but might be a bit challenging to navigate for those with mobility issues.

Sports and Recreation

Athletic types will feel right at home here. The park features two unlighted softball fields complete with electronic scoreboards. These fields stay in great shape thanks to the care of local coaches and leagues.

Prefer racquet sports or basketball? Take your pick between six unlighted tennis courts and two basketball courts. If you're into hoops, swing by in the evening when impromptu streetball games typically get going.

The newer outdoor pickleball courts have their own rhythm - they're busiest from 8-11 AM and during the golden hours before sunset. Soccer enthusiasts can use the soccer fields too, although you'll need to secure a permit first.

A walking/jogging track circles the main field area for exercise. The grassy hill in the back section is popular for stretching out or relaxing.

Kids have their own dedicated spaces here with two playground areas thoughtfully designed for different age groups. The 2-5 year olds get a fenced area for extra safety (though it could use more shade in summer), while the 5-12 crowd has their own section. Both areas come equipped with swing sets and various play structures to keep young imaginations busy.

Hungry? The picnic areas come with barbecue facilities and offer both reservable and first-come options. If you're planning a weekend gathering with more than a few people, you might want to make a reservation - tables fill up quickly when the weather's nice.
