Sprawling Outdoor Haven

Situated in Santa Clarita, California, Canyon Country Park spreads across 17 acres of multi-level terrain that's become a local favorite for good reason. The park features lovely mountain views that improve as you climb higher. It's easy to spend an entire day here, enjoying the surroundings rather than looking at your phone (though the landscape does offer some great photo opportunities).

A winding paved trail connects the various areas of the park, with fitness stations dotted along the way for those looking to mix up their workout routine. The park welcomes visitors daily from 6AM to 10PM, giving you plenty of time to soak in all it has to offer.

Play Area for Everyone

In January 2020, the park added a western-themed Inclusive Play Area spanning 9,500 square feet. What makes this playground special is its thoughtful design that accommodates people of all abilities, creating a space where everyone can play together. The shade canopies covering the entire playground provide welcome relief during California's sunny days.

Both kids and adults enjoy the two-track zip line that features both a Zero-G seat and a steel disc option. The accessible merry-go-round is another hit, along with an assortment of swings and slides designed with different needs in mind. There are even musical instruments for budding musicians and a spinning wheel that seats up to four thrill-seekers. The soft, spongy ground surface means wipeouts are a little less dramatic - something parents can definitely appreciate.

Hilltop Adventure and Views

One of our favorite aspects of this park is the second playground perched at the top of the hill. Getting there is half the fun - a zigzag paved trail that rewards your climb with increasingly spectacular views. It's a mini-adventure that's doable even for little legs, however strollers can navigate the path too if your toddler decides midway that walking is no longer their thing.

The upper playground caters to younger children and offers a quieter alternative to the main play area below. There's something special about having two distinct playgrounds connected by a path that's an activity in itself.

Everything You Need for a Day Outside

The park has expansive grassy areas great for impromptu picnics or tossing a frisbee around. You can find plenty of seating options with picnic tables and benches across the grounds. Some tables sit under covered areas that you can reserve if you're planning something special.

For the more competitive types, there's a lighted softball diamond available for community use. The fitness zone offers equipment for those who prefer their workouts with a view. And yes, your four-legged friends are welcome too - the park is very dog-friendly with waste bag stations conveniently placed throughout.

Thoughtful Design and Facilities

The multi-level layout of Canyon Country Park makes clever use of the natural topography, creating distinct spaces for different activities. Walking paths meander through the grounds, with nice views that enhance a simple stroll.

Planning a gathering? The park's community room comes equipped with kitchen facilities and can be reserved for events. Clean public restrooms are available in the lower section of the park - though you should note that the upper playground area doesn't have restroom facilities, so plan accordingly.
