Fletcher Park
About Fletcher Park
A Bit of History
Positioned in Santa Maria, California, Fletcher Park spans three peaceful acres of green space. In 2004, the park was named after Harrell and Betty Fletcher, local residents who poured their hearts into developing the Santa Maria community.
Fresh Facelift
Late 2024 brought exciting changes to Fletcher Park with the addition of a whimsical forest-themed playground designed to get kids moving and exploring outdoors. Little adventurers can climb on the log climber, soar on the swings, zip down the twisting slide, and say hello to the charming "Fletcher Frog" installation. There's also a clever nature hunt panel that challenges kids to find matching symbols (though we'll warn you - some of those symbols are really hidden well!).
The Layout
Beyond the playground, you can find open grassy areas excellent for stretching out and a decomposed granite pathway that loops around the entire park - ideal for a leisurely afternoon stroll. The paths are popular with dog walkers, but remember that your four-legged friends need to stay leashed. The park's intimate size makes it just right for small gatherings and family picnics.
Places to Picnic
You'll come across plenty of picnic tables scattered around the park, with many thoughtfully covered to provide shade on sunny California days. The barbecue pits are available if you're in the mood for some outdoor cooking. Just keep in mind that these spots fill up quickly on weekends and holidays, so arriving early is your best bet for securing a nice spot.
Get Active
Adjacent to the main green space, Fletcher Park offers several active recreation options. There's a skate park with ramps that draws skaters of all ages, a bicycle pump track for cycling enthusiasts, and a rock-climbing apparatus for those looking to test their skills. A half basketball court is also available for pickup games. This variety of activities makes the park a draw for everyone from toddlers to teens to adults.
The Basics
Public restrooms are available, but their cleanliness can be hit-or-miss depending on when you visit. While technically open 24 hours, it's best to enjoy the park during daylight hours for safety reasons. You'll discover trash receptacles throughout, but they sometimes overflow during peak times.
Getting There
The park has its own parking lot, but occasionally it closes for maintenance. Once you're there, you'll appreciate how compact and walkable the entire park is - everything's just a short stroll away.
