About the Location
Recreational Facilities
Positioned in Sunnyvale, this 2.6-acre community park is a little green haven with something for everyone. Whether you're looking to break a sweat or just lounge around, the park offers both active and passive recreation spaces.
You'll discover tennis courts here, though heads up - they do have some cracks showing their age. There used to be a basketball court, but in recent renovations, the hoops and nets were removed, so basketball enthusiasts will need to find their game elsewhere.
Playground
Little ones can burn off energy at the tot playground designed specifically for younger children. The park used to have a larger play structure, but it was removed to ensure access to water lines running beneath - practical matters sometimes win out over play spaces, unfortunately.
The swings are a definite highlight here, often filled with giggling children. There's something timeless about swinging that never seems to go out of style, especially in this peaceful neighborhood setting.
Amenities
If you're planning a small get-together, you'll find picnic areas equipped with BBQ grills. The park's more secluded nature means you'll rarely have to compete for picnic tables with many other families.
For fitness enthusiasts, there's an outdoor exercise area where you can get your workout in while enjoying fresh air. And yes, there are restrooms on-site, but they're not always in the best shape or consistently open, so plan accordingly.
Atmosphere
What really sets Orchard Gardens apart is its peaceful vibe. Nestled among residential streets, it's typically less bustling than other Sunnyvale parks, making it an ideal spot to read a book or simply enjoy some quiet time outdoors.
If you're in the mood for a longer walk, follow the walking trail that connects to 7 Seas Park. The layout of the park, with its open grassy areas and greenery, creates a natural, relaxing environment that feels removed from the hustle of Silicon Valley life.
Surroundings
This is very much a neighborhood park, perfect if you live nearby and need a quick nature fix. Worth noting that occasionally there are homeless individuals who set up near the restroom areas. While they generally keep to themselves and aren't problematic, it's something to be aware of when visiting.
