Charter Oak Park
About Charter Oak Park
A Green Oasis in Covina
Found in unincorporated Covina, Charter Oak Park spans a generous 12 acres of public green space. It's a place where you can take a deep breath and temporarily forget you're in the LA metro area. The mature trees scattered throughout create pockets of shade that make summer days more comfortable.
Get Your Game On
If you prefer being active, the park offers several recreational options. The basketball courts see their fair share of pickup games, while the baseball fields host everything from casual catches to community leagues.
For those of us trying to stay fit without a gym membership, there's a dedicated exercise area complete with pull-up bars and dip bars. Working out with birds chirping overhead makes for a different experience than the typical gym environment.
Kid Paradise
For families with children, Charter Oak features multiple play structures that will keep the little ones entertained for hours. The designers thoughtfully included areas for different age groups - gentler equipment for the toddlers and more challenging obstacle course jungle gyms where older kids can test their limits.
The playground got a recent facelift with newer equipment, featuring all the classics: slides, swings, and these charming teeter-tottering bugs that, let's be honest, you might be tempted to try yourself when no one's looking.
Picnic Perfect
When hunger strikes, you won't need to leave. Picnic tables are scattered throughout the grounds, with a cluster of covered picnic tables near the basketball court providing shelter from the midday sun.
Planning a proper cookout? The barbecue pits make Charter Oak ideal for family gatherings or friend meetups. You can use the park's grills or bring your portable setup - either way, the park is BBQ-friendly. And yes, there are clean restroom facilities available, which anyone who's spent a day outdoors knows is absolutely crucial.
Take a Stroll
The walking paths here meander through the grounds in that perfect way that makes a simple walk feel like a mini-adventure. You'll spot locals walking their dogs, especially as the day cools down around sunset. The park's cleanliness is maintained with plenty of trash cans along the routes - a thoughtful touch for responsible pet owners.
Hours and Operations
The park welcomes visitors daily from 6:30 AM until 9:00 PM. Staff are on-site Monday through Saturday, running various programs for the community. On Sundays, while you can still enjoy all the park has to offer, just note that no staff members are present.
