Trail Connections

A key feature of Sand Creek Park is its connection to the Sand Creek Regional Greenway, a nearly 13-mile public trail system. This trail links the High Line Canal in Aurora with the South Platte River Greenway in Commerce City.

This connection makes the park an ideal starting point for longer hikes, bike rides, or nature excursions.

Park Enhancement

In 2014, the park underwent a master plan amendment to enhance its offerings while preserving its natural characteristics. This update aimed to capitalize on the existing landscape and encourage park users to engage more deeply with the prairie, river, and cottonwood forest ecologies that distinguish the area.

One of the park's highlights is the Discovery Playground, a newly added feature designed to cater to children of all ages. This play area is thoughtfully integrated into the park's natural setting, providing an engaging space for young visitors to explore and play.
