Park Overview

Utah Park is a 46.5-acre community park located in Aurora, Colorado, at the intersection of Peoria Street and Jewell Avenue. The park serves as both a popular recreational area for local residents and a flood-control facility.

It sits at the confluence of Westerly Creek and Jewel Tributary, featuring beautifully contoured topography and naturalized streambeds.

Transformation Story

Originally a stormwater detention basin with a muddy lake and underground creek pipes, Utah Park underwent a $5.8 million renovation to transform it into an attractive park while maintaining its flood-control function.

The redesign included the addition of two new ponds and various active recreation features, effectively hiding the site's utilitarian purpose.

Recreational Amenities

The park now offers a range of outdoor activities for visitors. It includes multiple sports fields for baseball, softball, and other multi-use activities.

A large circular trail surrounds the park, providing an excellent route for walking, jogging, or biking. The park also features a natural pond that attracts various waterfowl, adding to its scenic appeal.

Utah Park is known for its accessibility, with paved trails and ADA-compliant facilities.

The Jewell Wetlands, adjacent to the park, offer a well-designed boardwalk that provides some of the best access to marshland in the area, making it a potential spot for birdwatching.
