About the Location

Park Overview

Situated in Fort Collins since 1971, Edora Park covers nearly 70 acres of green space that offers a nice escape from city life. Meandering through the grounds is Spring Creek, adding that perfect touch of nature to your visit. With plenty of shade trees and sprawling grassy areas, it's the kind of place where you can toss down a blanket and forget about your to-do list for a while.

Recreational Activities

The park features a popular disc golf course. The disc golf course has become a local favorite. With permanent short and long baskets on many holes, it caters to everyone from first-timers to seasoned pros. Two practice baskets let you warm up before tackling the mix of open fairways and more technical wooded holes.

The skate park here might not be the newest in town (it opened back in 2001), but it's got character. Snake runs, bowls, ramps, and rails offer plenty of variety, and the good flow and round coping give it a certain charm that newer parks sometimes lack. If you're just starting out or landing kickflips in your sleep, there's something here for you.

Sports Facilities

Traditional sports haven't been forgotten at Edora. The park houses several athletic fields and courts for baseball, softball, tennis, and basketball. Many are lit up after sunset, so that pickup game doesn't have to end when the sun goes down. The baseball diamonds are well-maintained and suitable for both organized league games and casual family play.

Family-Friendly Areas

Got kids? The newer playgrounds provide plenty of climbing, sliding, and exploring opportunities. A special highlight for the little ones is a shallow spot along Spring Creek right by the playground where they can splash around on hot days. And when winter blankets the park in snow, there's a fantastic hill that transforms into a sledding paradise - just bring your sled and prepare for some gleeful runs.

Picnic and Gathering Spaces

Edora Park makes outdoor dining easy with several covered picnic shelters complete with tables. Regardless of whether you're planning a family reunion or just a weekend BBQ with friends, these spaces provide a great setting. Charcoal grills scattered throughout mean you can cook up whatever you fancy, and the park's well-maintained trash and recycling facilities help keep everything clean.

Trails and Connectivity

The paved paths winding through Edora connect to Fort Collins' broader trail network, making it a great starting point for longer adventures on foot or bike. These smooth trails are ideal for a morning jog, an evening stroll, or a leisurely bike ride. Plenty of people bring their four-legged friends along too - just remember to keep your pup leashed as you explore together.

Water Features

Beyond Spring Creek, the park includes serene pond areas that add to its peaceful atmosphere. These quiet waters not only create picturesque spots for reflection but also attract local wildlife. If you're lucky, you might spot some interesting birds or even catch a fish.

Nearby Facilities

Right next door is EPIC (Edora Pool Ice Center), where you can take a refreshing swim or glide across the ice, depending on the season. While it's operated separately from the park, the proximity makes it easy to combine activities for a full day of recreation.

Amenities

The practical stuff hasn't been overlooked - clean restrooms are available near the baseball fields and activity areas, water fountains are sprinkled throughout for when you need to hydrate, and there's plenty of parking so you won't have to circle around looking for a spot.
