Daniels Park

Park Overview

The collection of mature trees at Daniels Park is what sets it apart - they cast generous puddles of shade on hot days that make the park genuinely useful in Colorado summers. This 13-acre space in Lakewood serves as both breathing room and meeting ground for the neighborhood.

Despite offering plenty to do, there's a tranquility here that stays consistent - a rare balance of activity and peace that makes it feel like a genuine retreat from the everyday hustle.

Trails and Open Spaces

Winding through the greenery is a 0.5-mile trail loop that's well-suited for everything from morning jogs to evening ambles. The paved path welcomes everyone - no matter if you're pushing a stroller or just looking to stretch your legs. The park actually features two different loop trails that connect to create more walking options. Both are kept impressively clean and well-maintained, letting you focus on enjoying the scenery rather than watching your step.

Sports Facilities

If you're into team sports, you'll appreciate the two baseball fields (or diamonds, as the locals call them) that host everything from serious league games to casual weekend matchups. These fields regularly buzz with softball tournaments, bringing the community together through friendly competition. Tennis enthusiasts can claim one of the four tennis courts for a quick game or extended practice session. There's also a basketball court available, but keep in mind it sits fairly close to the street. For more impromptu fun, the park offers plenty of open grassy areas excellent for frisbee tosses or kickball games.

Family-Friendly Amenities

Kids aren't forgotten at Daniels Park, with an updated playground area designed for climbers, swingers, and slide enthusiasts ages 2 and up. When family gatherings call for more space, the park's large covered gazebo acts as an excellent headquarters for celebrations. This spacious shelter can handle everything from intimate birthday parties to full-blown family reunions, complete with two BBQ grills for those who take their outdoor cooking seriously. To round out the family fun, there are volleyball courts and horseshoe pits nearby - because sometimes the simplest games create the best memories.

Dog-Friendly Environment

Dog parents, rejoice! Your furry friends will find plenty of space to burn off energy here. The expansive open areas are great for fetch sessions, while the network of walking paths provides structured exercise for both you and your pup. It's no wonder you'll regularly spot locals strolling with their four-legged companions around the park.

Facilities

When nature calls, permanent restrooms are available during the warmer months, with portable toilets stepping in during the off-season. You'll be glad to know these portable options get cleaned every 2-3 days. The parking lot generally offers enough spaces for regular days, but you might need to arrive early during softball tournaments or special events when spots become premium real estate. Many locals visit Daniels Park to exercise, meet with neighbors, and simply enjoy the outdoors.
