About the Location

Park Features

Situated in Westminster, Colorado, Squire's Park spans a generous 16.6 acres of community space. Open since 1985, this park has hosted family outings and community gatherings for nearly four decades.

You'll discover the park conveniently situated next to Rocky Mountain Elementary School, offering a refreshingly open environment with plenty of shade trees scattered throughout - great for those hot Colorado summer days.

Facilities

If you're planning an event, Squire's Park features the largest reservable pavilion in Westminster's park system, with space for over 200 people - plenty of room for large gatherings.

The pavilion includes BBQ grills, electric outlets, and numerous picnic tables, suitable for birthday parties to family reunions. The covered roof provides protection from Colorado's unpredictable weather.

Recreation Areas

Right next to the pavilion sits a large playground, so you can keep an eye on the kids while flipping burgers. Local families often visit this playground for their children to play.

Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the basketball courts, baseball fields, and soccer fields spread across the grounds. And if organized sports aren't your thing, there's plenty of open space for frisbee, catch, or just lounging on a blanket with a good book.

Pet Friendly

Dog owners will find plenty of space for their pets to explore. The walking paths and open areas provide ample room for daily walks, but do remember that leashes are required across the park.

It's a popular spot for local dog walkers, so your pup might even make some new friends along the way.

Amenities

When nature calls, restrooms are available and typically well-maintained, but they may occasionally be closed during off-seasons or for maintenance. You'll also find drinking water on-site - a welcome feature after a game of pickup basketball.

The park's overall cleanliness and regular maintenance make it a pleasant environment for visitors of all ages.

Upcoming Renovations

Exciting changes are on the horizon! In 2025, Squire's Park will undergo a major transformation with a nearly $3 million makeover approved by the city.

Kids (and kids at heart) can look forward to a mountain-themed adventure playground featuring a thrilling zipline and expanded equipment that exceeds accessibility standards - meaning more inclusive fun for everyone.

The renovation plans also include a small off-leash dog area (finally!), improved trails, and landscape upgrades focused on drought-tolerant plants and turf conversion to help conserve water - a thoughtful touch for Colorado's semi-arid climate.

Natural Environment

What makes Squire's Park special is its balance of recreational facilities and natural spaces. Beyond the sports fields and playgrounds, you'll discover detention areas and natural zones that offer a more peaceful connection with nature.

The park's proximity to the Skyland greenbelt provides extended opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, creating a seamless connection between structured park amenities and the broader natural landscape of the area.
