Historic Origins
Washington Park is a historic 4.7-acre public green space located in the East Side neighborhood of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Established in 1851, it was one of the earliest planned parks in the city, set aside by developers William H. Noble and P.T. Barnum as part of their vision for East Bridgeport.
The park forms the centerpiece of the Pembroke City Historic District, a Victorian-era residential neighborhood listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
