About the Location

Get Moving & Playing

Middletown Avenue Park is a cozy green space tucked away in New Haven, Connecticut. Though small in size, this neighborhood escape offers a wonderful spot for locals to stretch their legs and enjoy some fresh air right off the busy Middletown Avenue.

The park's walking track wraps around the perimeter in a neat paved loop. Measuring about 1/6 of a mile per lap, it's ideal for keeping track of your daily step count without needing to venture far from home. We've found it's just enough distance to get a nice rhythm going without committing to a major workout.

Shoot Some Hoops

The basketball court is definitely the star attraction here. It tends to come alive in the evening hours when locals gather for friendly games and shooting practice. Whether you're looking to join a pickup game or just practice your jump shot, there's usually a welcoming vibe on the court.

Just a heads up - you'll want to bring your own water bottle when visiting, as there aren't any water fountains or restrooms available. This is especially important if you're planning to work up a sweat on the basketball court.

A Breath of Fresh Air

While it's not massive, the park offers a welcome patch of greenery along an otherwise busy road. The landscape provides a pleasant backdrop for a quick break from the urban hustle, excellent for a moment of calm or a light workout.

One of our favorite aspects is how you can catch glimpses of New Haven's skyline from certain spots in the park. It's a subtle reminder of the city's presence while enjoying this neighborhood retreat. The atmosphere feels safe and community-oriented, with friendly locals often nodding hello as they pass by.

Finding Your Way

Sitting right on the border between New Haven and North Haven, this park is used by residents from both communities. If you're in the mood for a more extensive outdoor adventure after visiting, Peter's Rock Park is just a short drive up the road past the North Haven line, offering more extensive trails and outdoor options.
