About the Location
History and Namesake
Originally known as Southfield Park, it was renamed in 2011 to honor John Boccuzzi, a longtime Waterside resident and member of the Board of Representatives for over 40 years.
Boccuzzi was a lifelong Waterside resident who graduated from Stamford High School in 1941 and served with the U.S. Army's 44th tank battalion in World War II.
Park Features
This 12-acre coastal park is located in the Waterside neighborhood of Stamford, Connecticut, offering visitors access to Long Island Sound and various recreational facilities.
The park features a soft golden sand beach approximately 0.25 miles long, suitable for relaxing and sunbathing.
Recent Developments
In recent years, the city has undertaken efforts to renovate and improve the park.
A major overhaul project began in 2024, with the city having already spent over $3 million on the first phase of improvements.
Environmental Education
SoundWaters, an environmental education organization, has a long-term lease with exclusive rights to the marina and plans to eventually build a permanent facility with classroom space and other amenities.
The organization offers various educational programs and activities for local youth, including sailing lessons.
