Orange Drive Linear Park
About Orange Drive Linear Park
A Ribbon of Nature in Davie
Imagine a 36-acre green oasis stretching along the north bank of the South New River Canal. That's Orange Drive Linear Park - a peaceful strip that extends east to west for about 8 miles, featuring a smooth paved trail that runs alongside Orange Drive and the canal waters.
This isn't just any trail - it's like Davie's backbone, connecting you to the town's most iconic spots. As you travel along, you'll find yourself effortlessly reaching the Western Theme District, Town Hall, Rodeo Arena, and the popular Bergeron Rodeo grounds. Horse lovers will appreciate how the path links to equestrian-friendly parks including Wolf Lake, West Ridge, Tree Tops, Robbins Lodge, and Vista View Parks.
Take a Break Along the Way
Need a rest or a place for lunch? The park offers nine shelters nestled along the canal bank, well-suited for picnicking or simply sitting back to enjoy the scenery. Just keep in mind that these shelters are wonderfully simple - they don't have electricity or restrooms.
The trail has become a local favorite for all sorts of activities. You'll see folks walking their dogs, runners getting their miles in, and cyclists enjoying the straightaway. If fishing is your thing, the canal offers opportunities to cast a line and see what bites.
Natural Neighbors
As you make your way through the park, keep your eyes peeled for the local wildlife. You might spot sunbathing iguanas, turtles poking their heads above water, ducks paddling along, or various birds soaring overhead.
Finding Your Way
While the trail offers a wonderful outdoor experience, note that it does cross several streets along its 8-mile stretch. At some crossings, you may need to detour slightly to find the nearest crosswalk, as crossing signals aren't always positioned directly on Orange Avenue.
