Lincoln Park has an interesting backstory within Fort Lauderdale's Durr's neighborhood. Back in the 1920s, the city operated an incinerator across the road, with ash being deposited on what would eventually become the park grounds.

The park faced a challenging period in 2002 when environmental concerns led to its temporary closure. The city took action by removing contaminated soil, adding a protective cap, and bringing in fresh soil. After thorough testing confirmed everything met safety standards, the park reopened its gates to the public.
