Osswald Park
About Osswald Park
Recreational Facilities
Situated on NW 21st Ave in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Osswald Park covers 30.87 acres of green space, with a variety of amenities for visitors.
One of the cool things about this park is its 3-hole golf course that won't cost you a penny to play. Just a heads up though - the course is closed until May 2025 for some much-needed turf renovations. If you're still itching to work on your swing, the driving range is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Just so you know, there's no reservation system for tee times here, and you'll need to bring your own gear - the park doesn't rent out golf clubs or carts, and you won't find golf balls for sale on-site.
Athletic Amenities
Whether you're a serious athlete or just looking to exercise, Osswald Park offers several options. The park features lighted athletic fields for evening games, a full basketball court, racquetball court, tennis court, and a volleyball court.
The basketball facilities have a bit of a reputation locally - they've been something of a training ground for basketball talent in the community over the years. The athletic fields frequently host football practices and casual games alike.
If organized sports aren't your thing, take a peaceful lap or three around the walking/jogging trail. There's also an outdoor gym where you can get your fitness fix while enjoying Florida's (mostly) beautiful weather.
Family-Friendly Features
Kids have plenty of room to burn energy at the park's playground with all the classic favorites - swings, slides, and climbing equipment. When the Florida heat cranks up, the splash pad offers relief with colorful water features including fish-shaped sprinklers that children enjoy.
Hungry after all that play? The park offers several pavilions equipped with BBQ grills and picnic tables - excellent for anything from impromptu lunches to planned birthday celebrations. The picnic areas provide a surprisingly peaceful setting for outdoor dining, even on busier days.
Additional Amenities
Your four-legged friends are welcome here too - Osswald Park is pet-friendly, so both dogs and cats can join you for a stroll (just remember to bring the leash). An added bonus: the park sits right next to a library, making it easy to combine some outdoor time with a quick book run.
The recreation center and community center host various activities and events all year long. Parents particularly appreciate the summer camp programs for kids, which have earned solid reviews from local families.
All these amenities are set among Florida's characteristic lush greenery, providing a nice break from urban surroundings. The park welcomes visitors daily from 6 AM to 9 PM, giving you plenty of time to enjoy everything it has to offer.
