About the Location
Play Area Highlights
Gamewell Tot Lot features a playground that's ideal for neighborhood kids looking to burn off some energy outdoors. The fenced-in play area gives parents a chance to relax a bit while keeping an eye on the little ones. Interestingly, despite having "Tot Lot" in its name, the equipment here actually seems better suited for bigger kids rather than toddlers - those climbing structures can be a bit challenging for the tiniest adventurers!
The playground has gotten some love in recent years with updated equipment and fresh mulch. You'll find swings for soaring through the air, a fun whirly thing that's always a hit, and two climbing structures designed for different age groups.
Beyond the Playground
When the kids have had enough of the playground (if that ever happens!), there's also a half-basketball court that's lit up in the evenings. This means the fun doesn't have to stop when the sun goes down, and it gives older kids and adults a chance to shoot some hoops while the younger ones play nearby.
The Neighborhood Vibe
Situated in the Arlington Hills area of east Jacksonville, this compact green space sits at the corner of Terry Parker Drive and Gamewell Road. While not huge, it provides just enough room for local families to enjoy some outdoor time together.
Being a small neighborhood park, it does have limited parking - you might struggle to find more than one spot nearby. Look for the quirky teeter totter sign about a block away that helps point you in the right direction.
Upkeep and Facilities
The park has seen some improvements lately with fresh mulch and new play equipment. That said, you might occasionally spot some graffiti on the equipment or litter scattered around. Just a heads-up: there are no restrooms here, so plan accordingly before you visit.
