What you might not realize while enjoying the park is that you're standing on historically rich ground. The area beneath the nearby I-95 once contained Indian camps dating back to approximately 400 A.D.

In 1982, archaeological digs uncovered pottery fragments, shell tools, projectile points, and even an Indian woman's grave - tangible connections to the area's ancient past.
