About Z.L. Riley Park
A Piece of Parramore History
Z.L. Riley Park honors Zellie L. Riley, a pioneering local businessman who founded the Negro Chamber of Commerce in the 1950s - what we now know as the African-American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida. The park sits in the heart of Parramore, one of Orlando's most historic neighborhoods, and while it covers just about half an acre, it carries a weight of significance beyond its size.
Art With Heart
What immediately catches your eye here are the vibrant mosaic artworks that tell Riley's story and incorporate beautiful African themes. There's something especially meaningful about these pieces - they were created by young artists from the Parramore Kidz Zone, adding an authentic community touch that you just can't manufacture.
What You'll Find
If you're bringing the little ones, they'll appreciate the colorful playground where they can burn off some energy while you take a breather. The open green spaces offer a nice respite from the urban surroundings, and yes, there are grills available if you're in the mood for an impromptu picnic.
Planning an event? Make a reservation at this park
One of the park's most practical features is its large pavilion that doubles as a stage - great for community gatherings or just seeking some shade on those classic Florida afternoons.
Getting There
Sitting on South Parramore Avenue, the park is just a stone's throw from downtown Orlando. While you won't find dedicated parking (you'll need to use the side streets), its central location makes it easy to reach whether you're a local or just exploring the area. It's become something of a neighborhood living room - a place where community happens naturally.
