Tucked beneath the SE Crosstown Parkway bridge, Southeast Coral Reef Park is a compact green space with a lot to offer. This hidden green sits along the St. Lucie River, offering a surprisingly serene escape despite the busy roadway overhead.

Locals sometimes call it Pineapple Snook Plaza - a nod to both the artsy pineapple installations dotting the grounds and the popular fish species that keeps anglers coming back to these waters.

Take a Stroll (or Roll)

The park's walking and biking trails wind through the space, excellent for anything from a quick cardio session to a leisurely afternoon meander. The paved pathways feature colorful inlaid murals that add a touch of whimsy to your journey.

If you've got kids with wheels to burn - bikes, scooters, or otherwise - the smooth, traffic-free paths here make an ideal training ground for young riders still mastering their balance.

Riverside Relaxation

The St. Lucie River is truly the star of the show here. Find a quiet spot along the bank and you might catch sight of an osprey making a dramatic dive for dinner, or even glimpse a small alligator cruising beneath the bridge.

For fishing enthusiasts, the fishing dock is a prime spot to cast a line, with snook being the coveted catch. If paddling is more your speed, the floating dock and kayak launch make getting on the water a breeze. Weekend visitors might luck out with the occasional mobile kayak rental vendor on site.

When it's time to take a break, you'll find plenty of spots to sit and soak in the river views. The park has a spacious 20-foot wide gazebo and numerous benches placed throughout to enjoy the river views. The picnic areas with tables make this an ideal lunch spot if you've packed some sandwiches.

One unexpected perk of being under a bridge? Built-in shade that keeps the Florida heat at bay even during the sunniest afternoons. Grassy open spaces round out the offerings, giving you room to toss a frisbee or simply stretch out with a good book.

Four-Legged Friends Welcome

Your dogs will appreciate this park as much as you do, provided they stay on leash. The paths make for great dog walking, and thoughtful touches like dog waste bag dispensers and water fountains with pet bowls show that canine comfort was considered in the planning.
