The Azalea Recreation Center sits at the heart of all the action, hosting various classes and activities that cater to both the young and young-at-heart. They offer some thoughtful Therapeutic Recreation programs and even dog training classes for your four-legged friends. The staff here are genuinely friendly folks who seem happy to help with whatever you need.

Sports Fields and Courts

Sports enthusiasts won't be disappointed with the selection of well-kept baseball/softball fields, soccer fields, and football fields. These spaces regularly buzz with energy from local teams and recreational leagues doing their thing.

If court sports are more your speed, you'll appreciate the tennis courts, pickleball courts, and basketball courts. Whether you're a serious player or just looking to knock a ball around for fun, these facilities are available for use.

Trails and Fitness

Need to get your steps in? A clearly marked 1.25-mile path runs along the park's perimeter on cement sidewalks. It's a nice mix of sunny stretches and shaded sections, so you won't completely melt during those hot Florida afternoons. The park also connects to the Pinellas Trail, giving you extra options for rollerblading, biking, or extending your run.

For those looking to pump some iron outdoors, check out the Fitness Zone on the 22nd Avenue side near the tennis courts. It's usually not crowded, and the variety of equipment lets you get a surprisingly complete workout without the gym membership.

Disc Golf Course

Right in the center of the park, you'll find a free 9-hole disc golf course. New to the sport? No problem - you can borrow discs from inside the main building. The course is mostly flat and open without many obstacles, making it ideal for beginners or for working on your technique. Each hole offers two basket locations to keep things interesting.

Playground and Family Amenities

Parents will appreciate the shaded playground with its bouncy artificial turf - so much cleaner than traditional sand, rubber shavings, or mulch. The fenced-in design makes it particularly great for keeping an eye on toddlers and younger children as they play.

Several picnic areas with gazebos provide perfect spots for family gatherings or birthday celebrations. Clean restrooms are available across the park, but you might occasionally find them locked during off-hours.

You won't struggle to find parking here, with multiple lots scattered within the grounds. There are some nice shaded spots near the main building if you're lucky, or sunny spaces at the far end if you're arriving when it's busy.
