Tom Brown Park

Park History

Nestled in the eastern part of Tallahassee, Florida, Tom Brown Park spans an impressive 255 acres between Mahan Drive and Apalachee Parkway, just east of Capital Circle SE.

The park opened its gates on January 30, 1977, honoring Thomas Irvin Brown, Jr. - a dedicated Leon High School coach from 1944 to 1946 who spent 20 years coaching the Babe Ruth League and 14 years serving as a Leon County Commissioner. A true community contributor.

Recreation Galore

This spacious park offers a wide variety of recreational options. Sports enthusiasts can take advantage of well-maintained baseball, softball, and soccer fields, plus tennis courts and basketball courts for those looking to perfect their game.

If you're into cycling, you'll love the BMX track and network of mountain bike trails, including the popular 3.1-mile Magnolia Trail. Not your thing? No worries - try your hand at the disc golf course, challenge a friend at the racquetball courts, or dig your toes in at the sand volleyball courts.

Natural Escapes

Need a break from the bustle? The park's walking and hiking trails meander through peaceful wooded areas, ideal for spotting local birds and appreciating Florida's natural beauty at your own pace.

Lake Leon offers a tranquil spot to catch your breath and enjoy a moment of serenity amid the recreation options.

Family-Friendly Features

Kids will enjoy the playgrounds, while four-legged family members can run in the dog park that separates areas for small and large dogs.

There are picnic areas and shelters throughout the park, suitable for both impromptu gatherings and planned events.

Throughout the year, Tom Brown Park hosts various community events, including the annual 4th of July Fireworks Show.
