About the Location
Historic Development
Vine City Park is a public green space located in the historic Vine City neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia. The park sits on the site of former residential properties that were damaged by flooding in 2002. After the city purchased the land, it was transformed into a community park to serve local residents.
The park underwent significant renovations and improvements as part of a larger revitalization effort in the Vine City area.
Park Amenities
The park features open grassy areas for recreation, as well as playground equipment for children. It provides much-needed outdoor space in an urban neighborhood that previously lacked public green areas.
Environmental Design
Vine City Park serves as both a recreational amenity and a stormwater management facility. The park's design incorporates elements to help mitigate flooding issues that have historically impacted the surrounding community.
This dual-purpose approach aims to enhance quality of life for residents while addressing infrastructure needs.
Community Connection
The park is also known as June Elois Mundy Park, named after June Elois Mundy. Its location near the heart of Vine City makes it an accessible outdoor gathering place for neighborhood residents.
