Blanchard Park

Park Overview

Tucked away in Martinez, Georgia (part of the Augusta metro area), Blanchard Park spreads across 25 acres of public recreational space that Columbia County keeps in tip-top shape. Located just off South Belair Road, the park has recently undergone renovations, with new features added and existing areas refreshed.

Sports Facilities

If you're into team sports, you'll discover a baseball/softball field and a pair of football fields that double nicely for lacrosse and soccer. Planning an event? These fields are available to rent, but prices jump a bit in the evening when they flip on the lights.

Not into team sports? The park offers tennis courts, pickleball courts (lit for evening play), and batting cages where you can practice your swing.

Playground Areas

Kids have plenty of options here. Near the entrance, there's a traditional playground with jungle gym equipment that's excellent for the little ones, including toddlers still figuring out how this whole climbing thing works.

Wander deeper into the wooded section and you'll discover some themed playgrounds that feel like something out of a storybook - a treehouse playground, a charming woodland playground, and a boulder play area where kids (ideally ages 4 and up) can scramble around on natural-looking climbing structures. A small creek gurgles alongside some of these play areas, adding a peaceful soundtrack to your day.

Family-Friendly Amenities

When hunger strikes, head to the covered picnic areas conveniently placed near the playgrounds. The newer ones are nestled in shady, wooded spots close to the themed playgrounds and dog parks - great for a family lunch break.

Clean restroom facilities are available (always a plus when you're out with kids), but be aware they're about a 10-minute walk from the deeper woodland play areas - something to keep in mind if you've got a potty-training toddler in tow.

Walking Trails

Looking to get your steps in? A paved walking trail loops around the sports fields for about 0.75 miles - fantastic for a quick circuit.

Feeling more adventurous? The wooded trail extends your journey to 2.75 miles with some gentle hills and slopes to keep things interesting. These paths are wide enough for strollers and fantastic for walking dogs or getting in a more serious cross-country workout if that's your thing.

Dog Parks

Four-legged family members haven't been forgotten. The park features two fenced-in dog parks with plenty of space for your pup to burn off energy. You'll discover them across from the themed playground areas - convenient if you're trying to tire out both the kids and the dog in one trip!

Additional Information

Getting in is easy with multiple access points, including the main entrance and another entry from Oak Ridge Drive (off Columbia Road).

The park maintains good lighting at night and generally keeps things clean and well-maintained, making it a safe bet for evening visits when you need to squeeze in some outdoor time after work.
