Tucked between the bustling Kakaako commercial district and the vast Pacific Ocean, Kewalo Basin Park is a modest urban beach park that provides a break from the city in Honolulu. Sitting right next to Kewalo Basin Harbor, this small park is where maritime activity meets leisure time.

As part of the Lei of Parks collection, this green sanctuary gives you front-row seats to harbor views, where boats gently bob in the water. There's about 500 feet of light brown sandy shoreline here, however we should mention it's not set up as a traditional swimming beach.

What makes this spot unique is the fascinating contrast it offers - look one way and you'll see the Honolulu skyline rising against the tropical sky; turn around and there's the endless blue ocean stretching to the horizon. On clear days, you can soak in breathtaking views of Diamond Head and the Waikiki Beach hotels shimmering in the distance.

Kewalo Basin Park keeps things simple but practical when it comes to amenities. It's a good spot for spreading out a picnic blanket, unwinding by the water, or sitting under the shade of trees while enjoying the ocean breeze.

Want to dip your toes in? There are stairs that lead right into the water, so you don't have to awkwardly climb over any rocks. After your ocean adventures, you can rinse off at the rinse-off stations conveniently placed across the park.

You'll discover restrooms on-site that typically stay open from early morning until evening. The park welcomes visitors daily from 5AM to 10PM, giving you plenty of time to enjoy all it has to offer.

There's a small lot with free parking, however spaces are limited so you might want to arrive early. The park's central location makes it an easy stop while exploring other Honolulu attractions.
