Park Overview

Situated in Honolulu's lush landscape, Manoa Valley District Park sprawls across 27.3 acres and is an important recreational space for the Manoa Valley community.

The park's layout accommodates everything from organized sports tournaments to lazy Sunday afternoon hangouts. One of the first things you'll notice are the beautiful tree-lined grounds that create peaceful, shaded spots across the park - a welcome relief on those warm Hawaiian days.

Recreational Facilities

The park offers many options for active visitors. You'll discover a well-maintained gymnasium, several tennis courts (nicely lit for evening play), and basketball courts that see plenty of friendly competition.

The Coach Harry M. Mamizuka Swimming Complex is home to an impressive 50-meter Olympic-sized pool and a kiddie pool for the little ones - though heads up, the complex is taking a breather for renovations until June 2025.

Sports enthusiasts have their pick of one baseball field, three softball fields, and two volleyball courts, plus plenty of open grassy areas excellent for soccer games or tossing a frisbee. There's also an outdoor workout area with exercise equipment for those looking to mix up their fitness routine.

The expansive fields at Manoa Valley District Park offer breathing room for all sorts of activities, from impromptu soccer matches to community gatherings.

A standout feature has to be the magnificent monkeypod trees with their sprawling canopies that create natural umbrellas within the park. These shaded havens make ideal spots for picnics, reading a good book, or simply watching the world go by.

You'll also find a covered pavilion where locals gather for tai chi and yoga sessions. A small stream meanders through the park, providing a spot where dogs can splash around and cool off when temperatures rise.

Amenities

Picnic tables are scattered around the grounds, but many visitors prefer spreading out a blanket under those gorgeous shade trees for their outdoor meals.

The park maintains clean restrooms at several convenient locations. Given the park's size, you won't struggle with parking - there are three separate parking lots with plenty of spaces to accommodate visitors.

Children's Areas

Kids have their own space to burn energy at the well-kept playground near the pool area. The equipment is maintained in good condition, making it a safe place for younger visitors to play.

An added bonus: the park's proximity to Manoa Elementary School means access to additional play structures during non-school hours.

Dog-Friendly Features

Four-legged friends are welcome here! The park is dog-friendly, making it a popular destination for pet owners to walk their pups (on leash, of course). Over time, a friendly community of dog owners has formed, adding to the park's welcoming atmosphere.

While there's no fenced dog park area, the spacious grassy fields provide plenty of room for leashed dogs to stretch their legs and make new furry friends.
