About Baggley Park in Boise
Baggley Park is a community park located in Boise, Idaho. The park covers an area of approximately 8 acres and offers a variety of recreational facilities for residents and visitors.
Originally acquired by the City of Boise in 1977 through the Land and Water Conservation Act, Baggley Park was initially known informally as Loggers Creek Park. In 1990, it was officially renamed to honor George Baggley, a 14-year member of the Boise City Board of Park and Recreation Commissioners who also served on the Boise River Greenbelt Committee.
The park provides direct access to the Boise River Greenbelt, a popular pathway that follows the river through the heart of the city. This connection allows park visitors to easily transition between the park's amenities and the broader recreational opportunities along the Greenbelt.
Baggley Park features a mix of active and passive recreation areas. The park includes sports facilities such as tennis courts, basketball courts, and a sand volleyball court. For families and children, there is a playground area with equipment suitable for different age groups, including swings and structures for both younger (2-5 years) and older (5-12 years) children.
The park also offers open grassy areas for casual play and relaxation. Picnic facilities are available for those who wish to enjoy outdoor meals. During the warmer months, restroom facilities and drinking fountains are accessible to park visitors, though these are typically closed during the winter season.
Accessibility has been a focus in the park's design, with features such as paved pathways and ADA-compliant parking spaces. The park is open from sunrise to sunset, providing ample opportunity for community members to enjoy its facilities throughout the day.
