About Keith Bird Legacy Park

Park Overview

Tucked between Chinden and Ten Mile Roads in Meridian's Bainbridge subdivision, Keith Bird Legacy Park is a 7.5-acre neighborhood park that opened in 2017. The park honors the memory of Keith Bird, a dedicated public servant who spent five terms on the Meridian City Council and passionately championed youth athletics throughout the community.

Still in its youth (much like its trees that are gradually growing taller each year), this park offers lush grassy areas and generous open spaces for stretching out and soaking up some Idaho sunshine. The park's namesake was quite the achiever, earning his Eagle Scout badge by just 13 years old - one of many accomplishments celebrated in the memorial that helps tell his story.

What You'll Find Here

Keith Bird Legacy Park offers various amenities. A walking path winds through the grounds, fantastic for your morning jog or an evening stroll to clear your head.

Kids will gravitate toward the playground area with equipment for various age ranges (though do note there aren't any swings). When hunger strikes, head to the picnic shelter or grab one of the multiple tables scattered throughout the park - ideal spots for family lunches or casual get-togethers.

The park features two restroom facilities that are heated year-round. We've found these are consistently well-maintained - which is always appreciated.

Get Moving

Feeling energetic? The park's outdoor gym lets you work up a sweat in the fresh air while keeping an eye on the little ones as they play. The half-court basketball court is fantastic for a quick pickup game or practicing your jump shot.

Take a moment between activities to appreciate the public art installations and check out the interpretive panel about Keith Bird. It's a thoughtful way to connect with the park's history while catching your breath.

Extra Touches

The open play areas give you plenty of space to toss a frisbee, kick a soccer ball, or simply spread out a blanket and relax. Challenge a friend to a match at one of the game tables set up for checkers and chess (just remember to bring your own pieces).

On hot summer days, the seasonal snow cone stand becomes a popular spot for cooling down with a sweet, icy treat. Across the park, you'll find trash cans placed at convenient intervals, contributing to the clean, well-maintained atmosphere that regular visitors appreciate.

Dogs are welcome to join you on their leashes, although this isn't a designated off-leash area. One small heads-up: parking can be a bit tight during busy times, so you might want to consider walking over if you live nearby in the neighborhood.
