Midway Park
About Midway Park
Park Overview
Tucked away at the intersection of Midway Road and Smith Avenue in Nampa, Idaho, you'll come across Midway Park - a sprawling 52-acre recreational space that's popular with locals. Born in 2007, this park has been growing up alongside the community, with new features popping up phase by phase over the years. What makes it stand out? Its clean grounds, safe environment, and the kind of welcoming vibe that makes families return again and again.
Sports Facilities
If you're into staying active, Midway offers several options. The park has four baseball/softball fields where you can practice your swing, and six pickleball courts that tend to fill up as the sun starts setting. There's also a versatile multipurpose sports court meant for shooting hoops or playing futsal, plus a soccer field for those who prefer footwork.
Need a workout but don't want to miss out on park time? The outdoor fitness gym sits under a shade covering, and comes complete with stationary equipment and instructions so you know you're doing those reps right. The half-mile fitness trail loops around nicely, letting adults get their steps in while keeping the little ones in sight.
Family-Friendly Amenities
A highlight of Midway Park is its farm-themed inclusive playground. It features swings, slides, and climbing structures that cater to kids of all ages and abilities. From simple obstacles for the younger crowd to more challenging ones for adventure-seekers, the playground has it all - spinning toys, tire swings, and a forgiving rubber surface for those inevitable tumbles.
On hot Idaho days, the farm-themed splash pad (new as of 2023) becomes the place to be. It's only open seasonally, but when it is, expect to see lots of happy, cooling-off families.
Planning a get-together? Two covered picnic shelters offer respite from the sun and a great spot for birthday celebrations or family meals. You can reserve these online through Nampa Parks and Recreation. Beyond these designated areas, there are plenty of open green spaces to throw down a blanket and relax. Finding a parking spot is rarely an issue, and the ADA-compliant pathways ensure everyone can navigate the park with ease.
Additional Features
No need to cut your park day short - Midway features clean, modern restrooms with all the comforts of flush toilets and hot water. Just keep in mind they sometimes close earlier than the park itself, according to some visitors.
Four-legged family members are welcome too! Dogs can join in on the fun as long as they're leashed, with plenty of space to explore alongside their humans.
One thing to note: while the park has amazing amenities, you might want to bring an umbrella or pop-up tent if you'll be hanging out by the playground or splash pad for long periods. Some parents have mentioned wishing for more shade in these areas.
Future Development
Midway Park isn't done growing yet. Future plans include expanding the baseball complex, adding a small amphitheater for community events, and extending the walking trail. Once complete, it'll rank among Nampa's largest parks.
