About the Location
History and Heritage
Kosciuszko Park encompasses slightly over eight acres and serves as a vital recreational space for the surrounding Logan Square community. The park was established in 1916, as part of efforts by the Northwest Park District to enhance resident access to green spaces in Northwest Chicago.
Its namesake, Tadeusz Kościuszko, was a notable Polish-Lithuanian military leader and a national hero for both Poland and the United States, known for leading the Kościuszko Uprising against oppressive regimes.
Historic Fieldhouse
The park features a distinctive Tudor Revival-style fieldhouse, designed by architects Albert A. Schwartz and Frederick William Bowes, which has undergone modifications since its inception. This building forms the heart of the park, hosting a variety of community activities and events.
In 2013, the fieldhouse was recognized for its historical significance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
