About Leland Giants Park in Chicago
Leland Giants Park is a 2.07-acre public park located in the Auburn Gresham community of Chicago, Illinois. The park offers a variety of recreational facilities for local residents and visitors.
Named after the Leland Giants, an African-American baseball team that played near the park site in the early 20th century, this park pays homage to Chicago's rich baseball history. The park's history dates back to 1973 when the Material Service Corporation donated the land to the Chicago Park District. It was officially named Leland Giants Park in 1998. The park has since undergone expansions, with the City of Chicago transferring additional land in 2001 and the Park District acquiring adjacent privately-owned land in 2003.
Leland Giants Park serves as an ideal location for families to spend time outdoors, offering a mix of active and passive recreational opportunities. The park's design incorporates various play areas and sports facilities, catering to different age groups and interests.
