About Mayfair Park
Park Features
Mayfair Park is a 3-acre green space in Chicago's Mayfair neighborhood, sitting just a block north of where Kilbourn and Montrose Avenues meet, not far from the Kennedy Expressway. The playground here was completely updated in 2007 and features two main play structures - a larger one that's wheelchair accessible with ramps leading to various slides and climbing challenges, and a smaller setup perfectly sized for the little ones.
Safety is a priority here with a poured-in-place rubber surface throughout the playground. When summer heats up, the water spray feature offers relief with four sprayers arranged in a circle plus a "halo sprayer" that helps children stay cool on warm days.
Athletic Facilities
Beyond the playground, Mayfair Park offers plenty of space for sports enthusiasts. Two junior baseball fields provide a wonderful backdrop for weekend games, while the basketball court attracts players of all skill levels.

The park's fieldhouse contains a clubroom, a dedicated preschool space, kitchen facilities, and an auditorium with a stage for performances and events.
Within the grounds, mature trees create welcome patches of shade for both casual visitors and active athletes taking a breather.
Programs and Activities
Mayfair Park offers diverse programming for every age group. The little ones can join Kiddie College or try Parent & Tot Gymnastics for some structured fun.

Older kids and teens have plenty of options too - from archery and soccer to gymnastics and high-energy dodgeball games. Creative types appreciate the various arts & crafts programs available throughout the year.
Adults and seniors aren't left out either, with fitness classes designed to keep the whole community moving and healthy.
History
The park has deep roots in the community, established in the early 20th century by the Irving Park District. The charming fieldhouse, designed by architect Clarence Hatzfeld, dates back to 1931 and received thoughtful renovations in 1936.
By 1947, the park had expanded its recreational offerings to include horseshoe pits, shuffleboard, and tennis courts. A significant redesign in 1970 gave the park more room for athletic fields, creating the layout much as we know it today.
