Found in Joliet, Nowell Park spreads across 20 acres, blending lush outdoor spaces with a modern recreation center that has become the beating heart of community life. It's a place where people of all ages come together to play, exercise, and connect.

The park has deep roots in the community, dating back to the 1920s when Charles and Margaret Nowell generously donated the land - a gift that continues to enrich local lives nearly a century later.

Outdoor Amenities

Recreation Center

The Nowell Park Recreation Center, which opened in 2018, is the park's main attraction. This impressive 45,000-square-foot facility has transformed what the park can offer year-round.

Inside, you'll discover two full-sized basketball courts that cleverly convert into volleyball and pickleball courts when needed. Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the expansive 10,000-square-foot fitness center, while those preferring a gentler workout can take advantage of the indoor walking track. The center also includes suspended batting cages and multipurpose rooms for various activities.

Community Programs and Events

The Recreation Center is active throughout the year, hosting youth and adult sports leagues, art classes, and cooking workshops for all ages.

Beyond organized programs, the center features comfortable seating areas where parents can relax while watching their kids play, and neighbors can socialize.
