About the Location
Cultural and Educational Hub
Lakeview Park spans 40 acres in the heart of Peoria, Illinois, and is part of the Peoria Park District. The park functions as more than just a typical green space, housing the administrative offices of the Peoria Park District and several important community institutions.
These include the Bonnie W. Noble Center for Park District Administration, the Owens Ice Center, and the Lakeview Recreation Center. Additionally, the park is home to cultural and educational partners like the Peoria Public Library Lakeview Branch and the Peoria Players Theatre, which add a cultural dimension to the park's offerings.
Recreational Amenities
Traditional park amenities are also available, making it a family-friendly destination. Visitors can enjoy a playground, picnic tables, and, starting in 2024, a new splash pad.
The park is open to pets, making it accessible for individuals traveling with their furry companions. As a recreation hub, the Lakeview Recreation Center includes facilities for sports and community activities, such as gymnasiums and courts for basketball, pickleball, and volleyball, as well as spaces for various classes and events.
Community Events
Lakeview Park also hosts seasonal events, like "Lakeview Park After Dark," a Halloween-themed drive-thru experience for families. Its blend of cultural, recreational, and community-based amenities ensures its significance as a multi-use space for the residents of Peoria and beyond.
