About the Location

Natural Retreat

Nestled along the White River, Hazel Landing Park spans a generous 41 acres in Carmel, Indiana. Since its development in 2003, this riverside park offers natural beauty and recreational opportunities for locals and visitors alike.

With its mix of open meadows, mature woods, and direct river access, it's a breath of fresh air for anyone looking to escape the everyday hustle. There's something genuinely calming about standing by the White River here - the gentle sounds of flowing water create a peaceful backdrop that makes everyday stresses feel a little more distant.

Disc Golf Adventure

The park features an 18-hole disc golf course, which weaves through the property's varied terrain. What makes this course special is its diversity - eight holes wind through stately old-growth forest, six navigate areas with younger 20-year-old trees, and four open up into sunny clearings.

If you're a disc golf enthusiast, you'll appreciate the technical challenges here. The course demands precision as you thread your disc through tight wooded corridors, with the riverside holes adding an extra layer of difficulty. The low tree canopy on many holes forces strategic play rather than just power throws.

While experienced players will find plenty to test their skills, newcomers won't feel completely overwhelmed. The course is popular among local disc golfers for its design that balances challenge with accessibility.

On the Water

The park features a well-maintained canoe and kayak launch point for getting your non-motorized craft into the White River. The solid access point eliminates the awkward scrambling that can happen at less developed launches.

Fishing spots are plentiful along the riverbank, attracting anglers throughout the season. No matter if you're casting from the shore or wading in (where permitted), the river connection is one of the park's most valued features.

Trails & Amenities

The soft surface trails here aren't marathon-length, but they're meant for a reflective stroll or a casual nature walk. You might spot local wildlife while wandering through the wooded sections - just remember to bring your camera.

Scattered throughout the grounds are picnic tables, comfortable benches, and grills for outdoor cooking. The large shade trees around these areas are particularly welcome during Indiana's warmer months, creating natural dining pavilions under their leafy canopies.

Four-Legged Friends Welcome

Dog owners have discovered that Hazel Landing makes for a fantastic outing with their furry companions. The shaded areas provide cool exploration zones for well-behaved pups, and the natural setting offers stimulating sights and smells that city parks often lack.

Getting There

The park features a gravel entrance road with plenty of parking. One practical tip: after rainy periods or during spring thaw, parts of the grounds can get muddy, so wearing appropriate footwear will save your car's carpeting and your day.

Temporary Closure Notice

Heads up - as of March 2023, Hazel Landing Park is temporarily closed while a new pedestrian bridge is under construction. Once completed, this bridge will connect Hazel Landing to Heritage Park in neighboring Fishers, creating an exciting link between communities and expanding recreational possibilities for everyone.
