About the Location

Park Overview

Found in Carmel, Indiana, Lawrence W. Inlow Park spans 16 acres of neighborhood-friendly green space along E. Main Street. Established at the turn of the millennium and given a fresh makeover in 2022 as part of Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation's Reimagining Parks initiative, this park has evolved into a community park.

With a mix of modern play structures, natural elements, and recreational facilities, Inlow Park has something for most family members. Open daily from 7AM to 9PM, you'll have plenty of time to explore all it has to offer - regardless of whether you're planning a full day outing or just stopping by for a quick afternoon adventure.

Not Your Average Playground

The playground features three distinct adventure-themed play zones that accommodate kids of different ages and abilities. This design works well for families with children of different ages.

If you've got little ones, head to the first play area near the parking lot, where toddler-friendly equipment awaits. The middle section kicks things up a notch with challenging obstacles reminiscent of a ninja warrior course - fantastic for energetic elementary schoolers. Meanwhile, the back area houses more advanced climbing structures that will keep older kids engaged and challenged.

The Skywalk stands out as a must-try feature - an enclosed rope walkway suspended 16 feet in the air and stretching 32 feet in length. Kids love the thrill of navigating this sky-high adventure. Other playground highlights include embankment swings, intricate rope courses, various slides (the roller slides are particularly popular), and a fun carousel.

Parents will appreciate the cork and rubber flooring throughout the play areas, which not only softens falls but also keeps the playground mud-free even after rainy days.

Cool Off and Play On

From Memorial Day through September 30, the park's splash pad becomes the place to be. This water playground thoughtfully includes areas for different age groups, including a shaded section with smaller fountains and a water table specially designed for babies and toddlers.

The water slide is a major hit, though you'll want to keep a close eye on younger children during busy times when it can get crowded. Kids absolutely love waiting for the giant overhead water bucket to gradually fill before drenching everyone standing below in a refreshing splash.

For those seeking active recreation, try your hand at the 9-hole disc golf course. With its short fairways winding through park trails, it's ideal for beginners or anyone looking to sharpen their skills. The whole course takes about 20 minutes to complete - great for casual players or families just getting into the sport.

The park also features two pickleball courts complete with quality surfaces and wind screens, offering yet another way to enjoy some friendly competition.

Natural Beauty and Practical Amenities

What makes Inlow Park special is how it preserves its natural setting. Mature trees provide welcome shade within the grounds, while winding trails connect the various activity areas and offer pleasant walking routes.

You'll find shelters with picnic tables strategically placed around the park, well-suited for family gatherings or casual lunches. The main pavilion near the splash pad provides ample seating for snack breaks or birthday celebrations.

The park features year-round restrooms near the splash pad that are kept clean and well-maintained, with separate facilities for men, women, and families. Other convenient amenities include seasonal drinking fountains, water refill stations, and plenty of parking.

If you're in the mood for some impromptu team sports, the open grassy areas work well for casual games of soccer or touch football, although these aren't formally designated athletic fields.
