Max Bahr Park takes its name from Dr. Max Bahr, a hometown physician who completed his medical training in the late 1800s. His namesake park spreads across 10 acres of urban greenery on Indianapolis' Near-Westside, in the Hawthorne neighborhood - an area that has evolved following the Central State Hospital closure.

Today the park represents a welcoming retreat within this evolving community.

If you're looking for a place where locals gather to enjoy the outdoors, you've found it. The park's playground might not be elaborate - featuring mainly swings rather than complex climbing structures - but it does the job for neighborhood kids needing to burn off energy.
