History
Ringgold Park is a small neighborhood park located in Indianapolis, Indiana, situated between the Bates-Hendricks and Fountain Square neighborhoods. Established in the early 1900s, the park was relocated during the construction of Interstate 65 and has since undergone revitalizations to enhance its appeal.
Most recently, in 2023, the playground was updated as part of a $16 million city-wide investment in new playgrounds funded by the American Rescue Plan.
Features and Amenities
The park spans 0.19 acres and focuses on creating a family-friendly environment. It features a modernized playground with amenities such as a slide, climbing structure, rubberized turf surfacing, an adaptive swing set, and a seesaw.
Natural Elements
The park emphasizes nature by incorporating native plants and bird boxes to attract local wildlife. A natural space was developed in collaboration with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful.
Community Impact
Despite being close to the interstate, the park offers a serene green space for relaxation and recreation. It serves as a community hub for its surrounding Bates-Hendricks and Fountain Square neighborhoods.
