Riverside Renovation

After a lengthy five-year closure, Seitz Park has finally reopened its gates following major renovations that coincided with the University of Notre Dame's hydroelectric power plant construction project. The park sits along the St. Joseph River in South Bend, Indiana, and has become a vital recreational and cultural hub for the city.

The revamped park now features an elevated Riverwalk that prevents flooding issues while providing better views of the St. Joseph River. One notable upgrade is the enhanced lighting systems for the river light displays - they create an attractive scene against downtown South Bend's skyline in the evening.

Modern Amenities

The renovation didn't stop at pretty views. You can find brand-new restrooms complete with concession facilities, a convenient entrance near the AM General parking lot, and significant improvements to the East Race promenade and bridge. Music lovers will appreciate the refreshed band shell that hosts the Summer Concert Series, bringing a splash of culture and entertainment to this riverside spot.

Take a moment to appreciate the meticulously maintained lawns, the cool shade of the walking paths, and the seasonal flowers that add pops of color around the grounds. The park is popular with photographers capturing shots of the waterfront with downtown in the background.

Downtown Destination

As a downtown green space, Seitz Park offers good river views and access to nearby attractions like the East Race Waterway. Its location on a peninsula in the Saint Joe River provides a different perspective of the city's urban landscape.

Now that the renovations are complete, this free public waterfront space is available for both locals and visitors. Just note that your best bet for access is via the hike and bike trail, as parking in the surrounding areas might be limited during events at neighboring venues.
