About the Location
Splash Pad Features
Positioned in Cedar Rapids is the Twin Pines Park splash pad, which opened its refreshing jets to the public back in July 2011. It provides water fun for families during those sticky Iowa summers.
The splash pad welcomes water enthusiasts from late May through early September, running daily from 9 AM to 9 PM. Want to get the water flowing? Just run your hand over the sensor on the fire hydrant or push the button, and voilà - instant refreshment!
Safe Family Fun
Twin Pines is one of several splash pads sprinkled throughout Cedar Rapids, offering a free way to beat the heat when temperatures climb. There's something wonderfully simple about it.
With no standing water, it's a safer option than traditional pools, especially for parents with little ones at different ages. The area stays impressively clean and well-maintained, but on those extra sunny days, you might find yourself wishing for a bit more shade.
Playground Area
Right next to the splash zone sits a playground that, while not massive, packs in plenty of fun for kids of various ages. The equipment is kept in good shape and makes for a great companion to the water features.
What's particularly nice is how kids can bounce between water play and the playground equipment, keeping the fun varied throughout your visit. It's like having two parks in one!
Picnic Facilities
Hungry after all that playing? There are several picnic tables near the splash pad. These spots are meant for unpacking a lunch or enjoying some snacks while keeping an eye on splashing kiddos.
You'll also find benches scattered around for those moments when you just need to take a seat and enjoy watching the little ones have a blast.
Park Overview
The splash pad is just one feature of the larger Twin Pines Park, which spans an impressive 150 acres with various recreational options to explore.
As for facilities, there's a portable restroom near the splash pad area - basic but convenient. The park is clean and well-maintained, however it's worth noting that the splash pad area offers minimal shade, so don't forget the sunscreen and maybe a portable umbrella on those particularly sunny days.
