One of our favorite things about this park is its connection to the Duck Creek Recreation Trail - fantastic for those morning jogs, leisurely walks, or bike rides when you need to clear your head. What's particularly thoughtful is that they keep the trail clear even in winter, so your outdoor routine doesn't have to hibernate when the snow falls.

The walking paths here have this tranquil quality that's hard to find elsewhere. They conveniently link Garfield Elementary to Eastern Avenue Park, creating a practical route that's popular with dog walkers and runners alike.

Adding a touch of history to your outdoor experience, the park is also home to the Collins House, a historic structure that gives the space some extra character.

Amenities and Facilities

Planning a gathering? You've got options. The park features two shelters - a community shelter without electricity for those unplugged occasions, and a reservable shelter with electrical access when you need to power up that slow cooker for the family reunion.

If you have kids in tow, the recently updated playground is a must-visit. It's not enormous, but it's thoughtfully designed with unique climbing features that seem to especially delight more adventurous children.

You'll also find restroom facilities and a concessions area on-site - because let's face it, these practical details matter when you're spending the day outdoors. There's plenty of parking available too, which is always a relief when you're heading to community events.

Community Connection

The park is home to the Davenport East Little League, making it a popular spot for youth baseball in the area. On game days, the place comes alive with excitement and community spirit.

What strikes us about Garfield Park is how well-maintained it is. You'll notice benches scattered throughout - including some newer additions along the bike trail - offering perfect spots to catch your breath or simply sit back and take in the surroundings.
