About the Location

Recreation and Amenities

Chesterfield Park has just had a complete makeover, and we think it's looking pretty amazing with all its new features.

The star of the show here is definitely the STEM-focused sprayground where kids can experiment with all sorts of cause-and-effect water elements. It's pretty cool how they've managed to sneak some learning into playtime! The splash pad is generous in size with surfaces that won't hurt little feet, and it connects right to the playground area for seamless fun.

Playground and Family Areas

Kids seem to love the modern playground equipment here. You can find two main play structures and four swings - two regular ones and two baby swings for the tiny adventurers.

If you're planning a family picnic, you're in luck. The picnic areas are set at a comfortable distance from the playground (meaning adults can chat without constant playground noise). There's also a shelter if you need to escape the elements. Just a heads-up though - the playground and splash pad don't have much shade coverage, so pack your sunscreen in summer!

Sports Facilities

The park offers several options for the active crowd, including a baseball field for those who prefer bats and balls.

Racquet sports more your thing? You'll find tennis and pickleball courts here as well. There's also an artificial turf soccer field that's enclosed in a cage - no more chasing balls across the entire park!

Trails and Nature

If you enjoy a good stroll, the well-maintained walking trails wind across the grounds, giving you a pleasant way to get some steps in while enjoying the greenery.

Nature lovers will appreciate the newly added nature path that lets you get closer to local plants and wildlife. There's also a fishing dock where you can try your luck with a line and hook - though you might have to share the space with some resident geese who think they own the place.

Aquatic Features

Besides the sprayground, there's also a swimming pool for proper swimming when the temperatures climb. Between the pool and sprayground, you've got solid options for cooling off when Iowa brings the heat.

Additional Information

The park does have restrooms, but sometimes they're locked (which can be frustrating). The parking situation is convenient but limited - on busy days you might need to circle around a bit to find a spot.
