Park Overview

Located in Olathe, Kansas, Haven Park is a cozy 5.5-acre green space that's been bringing the neighborhood together since 1993. This compact green space offers just enough room to breathe without being overwhelming - great for when you need a dose of nature without committing to a full-day excursion.

The park strikes a nice balance between active recreation spots and quiet areas where you can simply unwind. It's refreshingly well-kept and clean, making it especially appealing for families. Just a heads up though - there aren't any public restrooms here, and parking is limited to whatever street spots you can find nearby.

Trails and Recreation

The 0.3-mile walking trail loop forms the backbone of Haven Park - nothing too challenging, just a pleasant paved path wide enough for a comfortable stroll. We particularly appreciate the benches scattered along the route - excellent for catching your breath or simply sitting back to watch the world go by.

If you're looking to get more active, the park doesn't disappoint. There's a half-court basketball area for pickup games, a sand volleyball court that's surprisingly well-maintained, and a versatile tennis court with pickleball lines marked on it. While the official rules say it's tennis-only, plenty of people bring their paddles for pickleball too. Sports options round out with a baseball field complete with backstop, and enough open space to kick a soccer ball around or toss a football.

Family Amenities

Kids have it made at Haven Park with a playground that sits under the protective canopy of large shade trees. The equipment includes swings and climbing structures that cater to different age groups, so both your toddler and your grade-schooler can find something to enjoy.

The park's sheltered area is a nice touch for gatherings, equipped with four tables that can seat up to 32 people total. You'll also find a charcoal grill, electricity, lighting, and water access - pretty much everything you need for an impromptu picnic or family meet-up. Note that you can't reserve this space ahead of time; it's strictly first-come, first-served, so arriving early on nice days is your best bet.

Pet-Friendly Features

Four-legged family members are welcome at Haven Park, and the thoughtful addition of two pet waste bag stations with dedicated trash bins makes cleanup hassle-free. Your pup will appreciate the open spaces, however they'll need to stay leashed.

What makes Haven Park special is how its layout allows you to keep an eye on kids even when they're exploring different areas - a real sanity-saver if you're watching multiple children. It's the kind of unpretentious, functional neighborhood park that doesn't try to be flashy but manages to check all the right boxes for a pleasant afternoon outdoors.
