About the Location
Park History
Osage Park is a 20-acre public recreational area located in Wichita, Kansas. The park was acquired in 1957 and was developed using Land and Water Conservation Funds provided by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and the National Park Service.
Facilities and Amenities
Situated off West 31st Street, Osage Park offers a variety of facilities for visitors of all ages. The park features a children's playground with a rubber pour-in-place safety surface, providing a safe environment for young visitors to play.
For sports enthusiasts, the park includes a basketball court with lighting, allowing for extended hours of play. The park also caters to softball players with two diamonds, each equipped with player dugouts and bleachers. While both diamonds have dirt infields, only the east diamond is illuminated for evening games.
Tennis enthusiasts can enjoy two lighted tennis courts, one of which includes a practice wall.
Water Features
A popular attraction during the warmer months is the interactive water fountain, also known as a splash pad. This feature operates daily from 10 am to 8 pm, offering a refreshing respite for visitors, though it should be noted that pets are not allowed in this area.
Relaxation Areas
For those seeking a more relaxed visit, Osage Park provides ample green space and picnic areas. The park's layout includes winding pathways, making it suitable for leisurely strolls and enjoying the natural surroundings.
Visitor Information
Parking is convenient with a paved, 94-stall lot located on the east side of the park. Visitors can also access restroom facilities, which are housed inside the former Osage Recreation Center building.
