Park Overview

Gainesway Park offers 21.8 acres of green space in Lexington, Kentucky, excellent for getting your outdoor fix. This public recreational area sits within the Gainesway neighborhood, on the former site of Gainesway Farm - a little nod to the area's historical roots.

Recent Improvements

2024 brought changes to the park with a brand new playground that's proven popular. Funded through a combination of federal American Rescue Plan Act money, support from city council members, and donations from local businesses, this playground offers more than typical park equipment. With multiple slides and safety-focused soft ground padding, it's noticeably larger than playgrounds at other nearby parks, making it a go-to spot for families with energetic kids.

Trails and Amenities

A recently improved paved trail winds through the park, now with better drainage to accommodate walks even after rain. Wide enough for comfortable strolling, jogging, or biking, it's great for those looking to get some steps in while enjoying nature.

The park features a small lake with a decorative fountain. You can cross walking bridges that offer lovely views of the water while watching the resident waterfowl go about their day. If fishing is your thing, grab your gear and try your luck catching bluegill, bass, or if you're fortunate, some catfish from this peaceful spot.
