Hisle Farm Park
About Hisle Farm Park
Natural Setting
Just a short 5-mile drive northeast of downtown Lexington, Kentucky, Hisle Farm Park unfolds across roughly 280 acres of gentle, rolling pastureland. It's the kind of place where you can actually feel your shoulders relax as you take in the peaceful countryside views.
The quiet atmosphere here offers a genuine break from city life, immersing you in authentic Kentucky landscape. With its focus on native plant species, the park has become something of a haven for abundant wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for various bird species and turtles sunning themselves - nature photographers and birdwatching enthusiasts, you'll want to bring your gear.
Trail System
The park features well-kept shared-use trails suitable for both hiking and horseback riding. You have two main options: a quick 1-mile loop for when you're short on time, or the more substantial 2.5-mile loop that winds through picturesque fields.
Both hikers and equestrians share these paths, with straightforward safety guidelines to keep everyone's experience positive. The neatly trimmed grass trails make this a particularly great spot if you're bringing your four-legged friend along for some exercise in a natural setting rather than a typical dog park.
Archery Range
One of the park's standout features is its 10-lane archery range, available whenever there's daylight. The setup includes two permanent targets, and you're welcome to bring your own commercially purchased targets for the other lanes.
Clear safety rules help ensure everyone practices archery responsibly. Regardless of whether you're just getting started with the sport or you've been shooting for years, this range offers a comfortable place to practice your skills.
Fishing Opportunities
There's a small pond stocked with fish where you can cast a line and enjoy some quiet time by the water. You'll typically catch smaller fish and bass - nothing record-breaking, but it's a wonderful spot to introduce kids to fishing or just enjoy a peaceful morning by the water.
Visitor Information
Your leashed dogs are welcome within the park, however they'll need to stay away from the archery range for safety reasons. A simple gravel road takes you to the main parking area, making it easy to access all the park has to offer.
Amenities are basic but functional - you can find a picnic table near the pond and a portable toilet. The park stays open 24 hours daily, so you can enjoy an early morning hike as the sun rises or take in the pastoral scenes as dusk settles over the Kentucky countryside.
