Pleasant Ridge Park

Park Overview

Pleasant Ridge Park has been around for decades, and it shows in the best way possible - mature trees, well-worn paths, and that indefinable sense of community that only comes with time. This 11.2-acre green space on Pleasant Ridge Drive in Lexington, Kentucky has become something of a local treasure.

The park offers a variety of features for individuals, families with children, or those looking to walk their dogs.

Recreational Amenities

Children particularly enjoy the playground, with the excavator scoop being a favorite feature where little ones can pretend they're operating heavy machinery. You'll come across picnic tables dotted around the grounds - excellent for everything from impromptu lunches to birthday celebrations under the open sky.

If you're the sporty type, the soccer field provides plenty of room to practice your footwork, while the open grassy area is spacious enough for frisbee games, touch football, or just sprawling out with a good book. It's one of those rare spaces that doesn't feel cramped even when there are multiple groups enjoying it simultaneously.

Pet-Friendly Area

The 0.5-acre dog park allows dogs to run leash-free and socialize with other dogs. Some uniquely shaped trees provide welcome shade during those hot Kentucky afternoons - something both you and your dog will appreciate. The area is kept remarkably clean considering its four-legged visitors, making it a go-to spot for local dog owners who want to socialize their pets.

Trails and Pathways

The walking trails wind through the park like gentle ribbons, offering a peaceful way to get your steps in or clear your head after a long day. What's particularly nice is how these paths connect to other trails in the area, so you can extend your walk or bike ride if you're feeling ambitious. The terrain is forgiving enough for casual strollers but interesting enough for those looking for a bit more of a workout.

Facilities

Practical amenities include clean public restrooms and a drinking fountain - small things that make a big difference when you're spending a few hours outdoors. The parking lot is generous, so you won't have to circle endlessly even when the park is hopping. Cyclists will appreciate the bike fix station on the grounds - a thoughtful touch for those who might need a quick adjustment while out on a ride.
